  • The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations

    Thu 26 May 2022

Today we said goodbye to our Year 11 learners who went out for a “leavers treat” and when they returned from their special event, they joined us to celebrate 75 years of the reign of Queen Elizabeth!
Our “street party” was an indoor event with the rain but that did not dampen spirits at all! We dined on pizza, trifle, jellies and cakes, followed by games and fun, including guess the royal baby from amongst the 25 staff baby pictures! There were some terrible haircuts and dodgy outfits there!

Please see the picture gallery for some snapshots of the day.

I am sure you are all looking forward to celebrating this historic moment in history  during half term at home and we hope you enjoy with friends and family.
    School returns on 6th June,

    cofion Mrs Cox-Wall.

  • Rights Respecting Schools Silver Award

    Wed 18 May 2022

Ty Gwyn has today celebrated this major milestone in its improvement journey. The rights of children and young people are part of our structure and daily life, for both adults as duty bearers and learners as rights holders. Children are listened to, respected and consistently guided and encouraged to be the best they can be.

  • Welcome to the Fern Primary Federation!

    Thu 05 May 2022

We were pleased to welcome 5 staff to Ty Gwyn today, Vanessa, Katie, Mandy, Sue and Ashley from Craig Yr Hesg and Cefn Primary schools respectively. They were interested in the trauma informed provision and looking at elements of good practice.

The staff enjoyed a continental breakfast and talks from our head, new deputy and acting deputy and ALNCO. This was followed by classroom drop ins, looking at Learning Recovery and the Assessment Centre and then Q and A and a website tour!
It’s always lovely to have visitors and of course the pandemic has limited our opportunities to work with other colleagues and share good practice. We look forward to forging new partnerships and working together 🫱🏼‍🫲🏻
