  • Goodbye and good luck to all our Y11s ❤️

Fri 28 May 2021 All of Ty Gwyn

Today was the end of compulsory schooling for our small group of Y11s. We have had a great day out (crazy golf, digital darts and lunch) and made some fab memories!

As a small school, we know our learners so well and their amazing qualities, strong characters and huge potential. We wish them all well, our thoughts and best wishes are in the personalised year books as we didn’t see everyone today.

Thankyou for being part of Ty Gwyn, take our good wishes and thoughts with you, believe in yourselves, we do!

  • Dangerous Tik Tok magnet stunt/trick

    Sun 23 May 2021

There have been lots of stories in the weekend newspapers and social media platforms regarding the new Tik Tok stunt or craze to place two magnets either side of the tongue to look like a tongue piercing.
This can lead to accidental swallowing of the magnets with very serious consequences. Please ensure you speak to your child about this if they use Tik Tok or other social media platforms.

    Fri 14 May 2021 Mrs Cox-Wall

    TES Award shortlisting 2021

Ty Gwyn is shortlisted for a TES Award in the Wellbeing and Mental Award 2021!

This recognises our trauma informed work to support the mental health of children and young people who are placed in Ty Gwyn at times of crisis and trauma or difficulty in their lives.

The award ceremony (virtual) is 25th June  and as one of only 2 schools in Wales to be nominated in any category, we are very proud and pleased to be highlighted for our work!

  • Seesaw and consent/option choice forms

    Wed 12 May 2021

    Parents and Carers

Please ensure you return the Seesaw consent form to school as soon as possible. We will then send your QR code home via post for you to access photos of your child and their in school activities. It’s great to see what they get up to and their hard work!
If your child is in Year 9, please return their option choice form ASAP or we may not be able to guarantee their first choice.
Finally, please return consent forms for the local park visits and we can get out and about to enjoy the (hopefully) better weather!
    Thankyou.

  • The latest news update (Newsletter is on it's way too!)

    Tue 11 May 2021 Mrs Cox-Wall

As you know we returned to "full" school on 12th April, many learners have attended safely during the Level 4 restrictions and we are proud Ty Gwyn has remained open for vulnerable and front line workers' children throughout the entire school year. We remained virus free with careful social distancing and an enhanced cleaning regime we are  continuing to maintain.

I take this opportunity to thank all Ty Gwyn staff, our teachers, support staff, admin staff, cleaning and site team, catering staff and you as parents and carers for working with us to maintain learning and keep us all safe.

"Inside the White House" newsletter is on it's way home (also in the newsletter section of the website) with the latest news included about our day to day lives, never a dull moment!

Just to finish, we will be saying goodbye to our Y11 learners on 28th May, we will be holding a learner only event due to the continued restrictions but we will celebrate in style and give them the send off they deserve! We will definitely miss them all and are proud of their personal achievements, GCSEs and other triumphs!

Thank you all, please contact school via the website or phone if you need any information.
