  • Everyone is welcome to the Ty Gwyn Christmas Fayre!

    Wed 14 Dec 2022

Thanks to all who attended, lovely to see you all and great news if you completed your Christmas stocking shopping!
Everything was made by our learners and your presence was so important to us, as we are such a small school, everyone matters!

Thankyou and we raised over £250 to be split between the school private fund and the Grief Support Cymru local charity for young people who are bereaved.

  • Christmas Jumper Day for Save the Children

    Fri 09 Dec 2022

The theme of the week is “charity” and we held an informative assembly on the important work Save the Children does for children and young people all over the world who cannot access their rights to education, to good food and water, to health care, even to hobbies and places to play. We heard the story of Jamillah whose life was saved by antibiotics and equipment in a Kenyan hospital and Darius who was able to join a dance club when he fled Ukraine to live in Romania as a refugee.
We also opened our Rights Respecting advent calendar and related the articles to our collection today.
Everyone joined in with some very colourful jumpers (and dresses) and we raised over £40 in a spare change collection for this amazing charity.
    Well done Ty Gwyn 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

  • Show Racism the Red Card

    Wed 07 Dec 2022

Show Racism the Red Card visited Ty Gwyn yesterday and spoke to the children and young people about racist language and behaviour and the harm it can do to all of society. We also examined other types of discrimination and their links to the Equality Act 2010 - what is "banter" and what is hate speech or a criminal act.

Ty Gwyn staff and pupils are anti-racist allies and commit to zero tolerance of racist language and discriminatory behaviour. This means we will not use that language, we will call it out if it is heard or seen and ask an adult to help if it persists.

We will be following up the workshop with the excellent digital resource pack and new film in our Form Family Time.

    Thank you Tom from SRtRC.

  • Age Connects Morgannwg

    Fri 02 Dec 2022

This year, every form class in Ty Gwyn will be writing thoughtful Christmas cards to older people who might not receive a Christmas card, via ageconnectsmorgannwg.org.uk

Kind words to a stranger can mean a lot at this time of year when someone may be isolated, far from family or bereaved.

You can support this by sending in a card you have completed or making a small donation.

    Thankyou
