  • Appreciation of our excellent staff!

    Fri 09 May 2025

Every week on a Friday we have our celebration assembly where we celebrate everyone’s hard work where they have achieved full or nearly full “Be Your Best” points.
Be Your Best points are earned on a daily basis for behaviours based on our school values:

    Be respectful

    Be safe

    Be engaged

    Be responsible

The number of pupils gaining full or nearly full BYB points is steadily increasing and this means lots of postcards and texts home as well as treats and rewards in school.

This week we added a new award “Amazing Adult” nominations from the pupils! Anyone can write on a slip and these thank yous and well dones will be shared every Friday in assembly. The slips will be given to the staff nominated to keep and the highlights displayed outside the Head’s office.

A great idea from School Council #pupilvoice

  • Welcome back to the second half of the spring term!

    Mon 03 Mar 2025

    Welcome back to everyone today!

It’s a busy time of year and we’ve got off to a great start. It was a pleasure to welcome Father Richard from St Fagan’s Church to deliver a special St David’s Day message in assembly today. Do the small things well is good advice and during Lent we are going to fill our Ty Gwyn ladder with kind acts for the next 40 days and nights.

We will have Pancake Day first of course!
We look forward to celebrating World Book Day on Thursday and anyone is welcome to be a literary character - I can’t wait to see the three staff as the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe from the second book in the well loved CS Lewis series!

We are also focussed on attendance and ask you to remember to ring in if there is an absence, we will always support where we can but will also take enforcement action in the form of penalty notices if required. It’s coming around to holiday season quickly and I respectfully remind everyone that term time holidays disrupt progress and learning.
There is an INSET day on Monday 10th March.
Thank you and don’t hesitate to ring should there be any concerns.

  • Holocaust Memorial Day 2025

    Mon 27 Jan 2025

Ty Gwyn held a very solemn and heartfelt assembly to mark Holocaust Memorial Day with our visitor Martin Silezin.
He told the story of a friend and how his family were abducted to a concentration camp to threaten him into joining the German Army.
There was a sad outcome to the story and Mr Silezin made the point that whilst it may seem some time ago and those involved may be elderly and frail now, remember their strength, their courage and integrity. Well done to everyone who was respectful and polite, thank you Mr Silezin.
